Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola describes Yaya Toure as a "huge talent", despite speculation linking the Ivorian with a move away from the club.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described Yaya Toure as a "huge talent", despite speculation linking the midfielder with a move away from the club.

Toure was widely expected to leave the Etihad Stadium following Guardiola's appointment as manager after the Spaniard had previously sold the Ivorian to Man City during his time in charge of Barcelona.

However, Guardiola offered no suggestions that Toure was on his way out and insists that he is counting on all of his players.

"I know Yaya. He did very well for Barcelona and here as well. He's a huge talent but all the players here now are counting on me. I'm counting on them all including Yaya," he told reporters.

"My responsibility here is to try and work with the players. I've got to do everything for them. I am just focusing on my players and what they have to do on the pitch which is why I decided to come here.

"I love to work with young players. At Barcelona I knew almost all the players in the second team. Having worked here one week I'm really impressed with their quality."

Guardiola also hinted that he is looking at making further additions to his squad this summer having already signed Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito.
