John Still leaves Luton Town by mutual consent

Luton Town announce the departure of manager John Still by mutual consent.

Luton Town have announced the departure of manager John Still by mutual consent.

Still, 65, leaves Luton with the club 17th in League Two having conceded 11 goals in three straight league defeats.

In a statement on their website, the Hatters said: "It is with much regret that Luton Town Football Club announce the parting of company with manager John Still by mutual consent.

"After an inconsistent past 12 months of performances and results on the field, all of the Hatters' Board felt, with a heavy heart, that a change in manager was necessary in order to turn around the team's fortunes."

Still achieved promotion from the Conference in 2014 and then almost led the Hatters to the playoffs last season.

"The Conference championship season is one which will live long in my memory and I was proud and honoured to have played a part in bringing Luton Town back in to the Football League," Still said.

"I wish the club all the very best for the rest of the season and beyond."

Academy and development manager Andy Awford will be in charge of the first team until a new manager is found.
