Report: Liverpool in talks to sign Borussia Dortmund's Neven Subotic on loan

Report: Liverpool in Subotic talks

Liverpool have reportedly contacted Borussia Dortmund about the possibility of signing Neven Subotic on loan due to the club's injury problems in defence.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is without centre-backs Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren due to hamstring injuries, which are also being suffered by Philippe Coutinho, Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge.

Tiago Ilori has returned to Merseyside after his season-long loan deal at Aston Villa was cancelled early, but it appears as though Klopp wants to bring in one of his former players.

According to The Mirror, the Reds have opened talks with Dortmund with the hope of signing Subotic on loan before Friday's FA Cup third-round tie against Exeter City.

Klopp worked with Subotic for seven years after he signed him for Dortmund from Mainz 05 in 2008.
