Southampton attacker Sadio Mane 'to undergo Liverpool medical on Monday'

Southampton attacker Sadio Mane is on the verge of joining Liverpool in a £30m deal as he is reportedly due to undergo a medical today.

Southampton attacker Sadio Mane appears to be edging closer to a switch to Liverpool as he is reportedly booked to undergo a medical with the Merseyside outfit today.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Saints from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield in recent weeks.

Mane was previously linked to Manchester United, but it is believed that the Senegal international has opted to join Liverpool, who are reportedly prepared to part with close to £34m for his signature.

According to BBC Sport, Southampton were initially holding out for a figure closer to £40m, but it seems as though an agreement has been reached as Mane is due to have medical tests before signing on the dotted line.

The report adds that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has kept a close eye on Mane ever since his appearance in Southampton's 3-2 victory over the Reds in the Premier League in March.

It is believed that Klopp is keen to add to the team's attacking threat, which already includes Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Christian Benteke.

Liverpool are no strangers to business deals with Southampton as in the last two years they have bought Nathaniel Clyne, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Lallana from the coastal club.

Mane has scored 21 league goals in the last two campaigns, which is at least eight more than any Liverpool player.
