Liverpool 'yet to open Allen contract talks'

Liverpool have reportedly not begun discussing the possibility of offering midfielder Joe Allen a new contract.

The Wales international impressed manager Jurgen Klopp with his performance in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield.

Allen started the game due to captain Jordan Henderson being sidelined with injury, but the 26-year-old has largely had to settle for a spot on the bench this season.

According to BBC Wales Sport, the Merseyside outfit have not opened contract talks with Allen, who was reportedly the subject of a loan enquiry from his former club Swansea City in January.

Allen, who has started four Premier League games this season, joined the Reds from Swansea for £15m in August 2012.
