Dejan Lovren's Roma move collapses?

Dejan Lovren's proposed move from Liverpool to Roma has reportedly fallen through.

Liverpool have reportedly called off Dejan Lovren's proposed move to Roma after the Italian giants attempted to negotiate a loan deal for the centre-back.

Lovren, who is behind the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in the pecking order at Anfield, has been strongly linked with a move away from the Reds in recent weeks.

Roma were believed to be on the verge of securing a £23m deal for the Croatia international.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Champions League holders have now pulled the plug on the deal after the Serie A outfit failed to make a concrete offer for the 2018 World Cup finalist.

The report claims that Roma did not make a serious bid for the 30-year-old despite suggestions that the club were prepared to pay in excess of £20m to land the former Dinamo Zagreb youngster.

Lovren has made 170 appearances for the Merseyside outfit since a 2014 switch from Southampton, but the defender only featured in 13 of Liverpool's 38 Premier League matches last term.
