Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri insists that he remains committed to the Reds despite feeling "downbeat" about his lack of playing time recently.

Xherdan Shaqiri has admitted that he is struggling to adapt to his lack of playing time at Liverpool.

The Switzerland international winger, 27, has played just 11 minutes of Premier League football so far this season across two substitute appearances.

After receiving regular playing time in the first half of last term, Shaqiri only appeared off the bench in three of Liverpool's last 11 Premier League games, playing a total of just 42 minutes.

The drop off in his game-time with the Reds is causing the forward some frustration, but he has insisted that he is committed to his club.

"It is not easy for me, of course I am a little downbeat," Shaqiri said to Teleclub.

"You have to be able to handle that and you have to accept it, I was always still in the squad. You cannot ask the coach to play every match.

"I feel very comfortable here. We have a great coach, a great club. There's a family feel. I hope we can bring the Premier League back to Liverpool after 30 years."

Liverpool's next league game is away against Chelsea, before they visit MK Dons in the EFL Cup, a game Shaqiri is likely to feature in from the start.
