Sheyi Ojo "working hard" for Liverpool place

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo says that he is "working hard" to convince Jurgen Klopp that he deserves a first-team place.

Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo has revealed that he is "working hard" to convince manager Jurgen Klopp that he deserves a place in the first team.

The 19-year-old scored the Reds' only goal of the game last night as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Italian side Roma in St Louis.

Klopp has recently suggested that he may send Ojo out on loan this season but the youngster is hoping that his efforts in pre-season will enable him to stay at Anfield.

"I've just got to keep my head down and keep working hard in training and see what happens," Ojo told the club's website after their defeat.

"The most important thing is the team and everyone got fitter and we are getting stronger and looking forward to the new season.

"It was disappointing to lose the game [tonight] but there are a lot of positives to take from the game and our time out here. We will assess the game and look forward to the next one."

Liverpool now return to England ahead of their final pre-season fixture against Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday.
