Emile Heskey urges Liverpool to stick with out-of-form Daniel Sturridge

Emile Heskey urges Liverpool to persist with Daniel Sturridge, who has scored just two goals so far this season.

Emile Heskey has claimed that Liverpool should stand by Daniel Sturridge following the striker's slow start to the season.

The England international has scored just twice this season - both goals coming in the EFL Cup.

Sturridge has received limited playing time under manager Jurgen Klopp and he was hauled off the pitch in the second half of Monday night's goalless draw with Manchester United following a lacklustre display.

Heskey, though, believes that Liverpool should be patient with the 27-year-old striker.

When asked by FourFourTwo if the Reds should persist with Sturridge, Heskey said: "Most definitely. He's an outstanding talent, one of those players who can just make something out of nothing. He's had a slow start to the season, but when he's fit and on form there are very few in his calibre."

Liverpool are currently fourth in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Manchester City.
