Liverpool striker Danny Ings: 'Dark days are behind me'

Liverpool striker Danny Ings says that his injury hell is behind him and is keen to get up to speed ahead of the new season.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has claimed that his injury woe is a thing of the past, but admits that he is playing catch-up following almost an entire season out of action.

The 23-year-old joined the Reds from Burnley last summer, but his career got off to a miserable start as he was struck down with a serious knee injury in October.

Ings has scored twice in Liverpool's recent pre-season friendlies, and is hopeful that he can learn from manager Jurgen Klopp as quickly as possible.

"I feel like I am back to myself now enjoying my football," Ings wrote in his LFC Tour diary. "I feel I've put the dark days behind me now.

"There will be loads of hard work to do here while we're on tour and when we're getting on that plane back to Liverpool next month, I want to be in the best shape possible after it all.

"I also want to be tactically more aware of what the manager wants from me because with the year out, I didn't have as much time to work with him whereas other players have. So for me, this tour is all about learning as much as I can, getting as fit as I can and trying to prove myself every day."

Liverpool are currently in the United States for friendlies against Chelsea and AC Milan.
