Colin Pascoe: 'Liverpool unlikely to rest Luis Suarez for FA Cup duties'

Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe reveals that Luis Suarez would not take kindly to being rested for the FA Cup tie with Oldham, such is his hunger to score goals.

Liverpool do not intend to rest Luis Suarez for their FA Cup trip to Oldham Athletic, despite him suffering from a recent foot problem.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the Uruguayan forward, who has scored a remarkable 20 goals in 15 Premier League games this season, battled through the 2-0 win over Hull City with an injury.

Considering the stature of their League One opponents on Saturday, there were suggestions that Liverpool would give Suarez his first weekend off since November 23, but assistant manager Colin Pascoe has insisted that the in-form striker would rather feature, such is his hunger to play and score goals.

"If Brendan told him that we were going to rest him I'm sure he'd kick me or Brendan because he just wants to play - that is the kind of person he is," Pascoe told reporters.

"You could always look at that but if you ask Luis he would say he wants to play every game. He couldn't put his boot on two days before the Hull game but the mentality of the man means he just wants to play every game.

"He takes whacks every game and just gets up, gets on with it, dusts himself down and what he does best - puts the ball in the net."

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could be given some minutes at Boundary Park as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury which has prevented him from starting since December 7.
