Jurgen Klopp plays down away-goal importance ahead of Liverpool-Dortmund

Jurgen Klopp believes that the Anfield crowd will play a bigger part than his side's away goal in the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Borussia Dortmund.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has played down the importance of the away goal that his side scored in last week's Europa League quarter-final against his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Divock Origi's first-half opener was cancelled out in the second half by Mats Hummels, but could help the Reds advance to the last four in tomorrow night's second leg.

When asked about the away goal, Klopp told reporters: "It makes a difference only if you get the right result in the second game.

"Dortmund can score goals anywhere in the world. You can't just try to keep the clean sheet. Maybe after 85-89 mins the away goal will be relevant, but not earlier. It's an open game.

"The crowd is more of an advantage than the away goal. Only at 0-0 is it an advantage. If we win, we don't need it."

If Liverpool advance tomorrow night they will reach the semi-finals of a European competition for the first time in six years.
