Leicester City back to winning ways in Premier League

Leicester City return to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City have recorded just their third win of the Premier League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The Foxes have struggled to replicate the form that took them to the title last season, but goals from Ahmed Musa, Shinji Okazaki and Christian Fuchs earned them an important win at the King Power Stadium.

It was the home side who made the early running with Okazaki sending a lob just wide of the target, but Palace soon made their way up to the other end of the pitch where Yohan Cabaye drilled a shot just past the post.

With less than a quarter of an hour on the clock, Christian Benteke thought he had opened the scoring for the visitors but his fine header rebounded off the crossbar and went clear.

It took a while for Leicester to respond to being put under pressure but as the game reached the half-hour mark, they were dominating possession with both Islam Slimani and Okazaki sending headers off target.

However, with three minutes of the first half remaining, the Foxes went in front as Musa lashed a venomous shot past Steve Mandanda from just outside of the penalty area.

Like in the first half, the second period began with both teams creating half-chances in and around the penalty area, but neither goalkeeper was being made to work with a lack of a cutting edge being shown in both final thirds.

However, Leicester were eventually able to double their lead through Okazaki, who was perfectly placed to drive the ball into the near corner after a cross from Danny Drinkwater had been blocked.

Palace responded by going straight onto the front foot, with Wilfried Zaha and Cabaye both being denied by excellent stops by Kasper Schmeichel who, like in midweek, was proving difficult to beat.

The result was put beyond doubt with 11 minutes left by Fuchs, who celebrated being handed a new deal by the club by drilling an outstanding shot into the net from all of 25 yards.

To their credit, Palace continued to fight and they were rewarded with five minutes left when Cabaye reduced the deficit with a shot into the corner after receiving the ball from Zaha.

However, it proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal as Leicester moved level on points with the Eagles in the Premier League table.
