Claudio Ranieri: 'Leicester City will take one step at a time'

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says that the club will not get ahead of themselves as they look to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has insisted that the club will "take it one step at a time" as they look to cap off a remarkable season with the Premier League title.

The Foxes travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon with a five-point cushion at the top of the table, but Ranieri has insisted that, for now at least, their aim remains qualifying for Europe, rather than the league crown.

The Italian is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We have a tight-knit, wonderful dressing room and a team that works. However, we know we haven't done anything yet.

"Everyone is rooting for us to win the Premier League. It's incredible that a small club are punching above their weight like this in the big-money era.

"Now we're going to fight to qualify for Europe. And if we stay up there, we'll try to get into the Champions League and then go for the title. But we have to take it one step at a time."

Leicester are 14 points ahead of fifth-placed West Ham United, meaning that 13 points from their eight remaining fixtures will guarantee a place in the top four.
