Mahrez dedicates award to teammates

Riyad Mahrez has dedicated his PFA Player of the Year award to his Leicester City teammates and manager Claudio Ranieri.

The 25-year-old scooped the gong last night after receiving the most votes from his peers.

Mahrez, who has contributed with 11 assists in the Premier League this season, scored his 17th goal in Sunday's 4-0 victory over Swansea City, which means that Leicester need just five more points to win the title.

After being named the PFA Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season, Mahrez told Sky Sports News: "All the credit is for my teammates, seriously, and for my manager and the staff.

"Without them I wouldn't receive this award and I wouldn't score. It's the team spirit, and I want to dedicate it to them.

"I'm very grateful to receive this award - it's a pleasure. It's extra special because, if the players vote for me, it's because they've seen I've been great this year, so I'm happy."

Mahrez is also the first ever African player to win the award.
