Danny Simpson hails Islam Slimani impact

Leicester City defender Danny Simpson has paid tribute to Islam Slimani after the Algerian marked his Premier League debut with a brace in Saturday's 3-0 win over Burnley.

Slimani, who joined the Foxes for a club-record fee in the summer, started last week's Champions League clash with Club Brugge, before making his first league appearance at the weekend.

Simpson says that Riyad Mahrez's presence has helped the striker settle at the King Power Stadium and also hailed the 28-year-old's work ethic in the early stages of his career with the Premier League champions.

"He has done well, Riyad is here and knows him from Algeria but he is integrating really well. He works his socks off and that's what we're about. That's why it's been easy for him," Simpson told reporters.

"It's great for Islam to get his goals for the club and for the fans to show what he can do for us. Everything was perfect."

Slimani scored 57 times in 109 appearances for Sporting Lisbon between 2013 and 2016.
