FIFA 'angry' at Ronaldo awards snub

FIFA has reportedly been left angry after Cristiano Ronaldo's failure to attend its awards ceremony on Monday night.

The Juventus forward was one of three players - the others being Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk - who were nominated for the Best FIFA Men's Player accolade.

However, despite the event taking place in Milan, which is relatively close to Turin, the 34-year-old opted against making an appearance.

According to Marca, FIFA is disappointed that the Portugal international was not present for one of the biggest occasions on its calendar.

Despite Van Dijk being the pre-event favourite, Messi was named as the 2019 winner of the award.
