Hello all and thanks for joining me this evening. It's matchday three in the Europa League and we have a game here in which both sides are desperate for three points: Freiburg vs. Estoril.

This is the first ever meeting between these two sides, and in fact Freiburg have never met Portuguese opposition and Estoril have never faced a German team. History, at least, tells us that it is unsure what to expect from this one.

However, I would expect Freiburg to win tonight. Even if they have struggled - a lot - at the start of the Bundesliga season. In their two games against Sevilla and Slovan Liberec they were much more impressive than Estoril.

The team news is in, so I'll get that right over.

FREIBURG XI: Baumann; Hedenstad, Ginter, Hohn, Lorenzoni; Schuster, Fernandes; Schmid, Coquelin; Darida; Mehmedi

ESTORIL: Vagner; Mano, Tavares, Fernandes, Babanco; Filipe Goncalves, Goncalo; Seba, Evandro, Joao Pedro; Leal

Freiburg have not been in a European competition since the 2001-02 UEFA Cup. However, their 2-0 defeat to Sevilla was their worst-ever result in Europe. Not so bad, and they certainly have some talent to damage their Portuguese opponents tonight. Jonathan Schmid in particular.

Not long left to kickoff, I suppose I should make my prediction! Let's say 2-1 to Freiburg. I think they'll go behind before dominating the rest of the game and managing the win.

The players are out on the pitch and we're nearly ready for kickoff. Let's hope for a good game here!

KICKOFF: The hosts in red get us underway here.

It's the Portuguese side with much of the early passing, but Mano wide right cannot keep the ball in play in order to cross. Leal is then caught offside - decent start from Estoril.

Free kick in a dangerous spot here as Coquelin is fouled. From it Schmid swings it in but Vagner gets a good punch and clears. No real chances to speak of as yet.

SAVE! Close for Mehmedi. Schmid drives down the right and gets a good cross in, which is met by the striker but Vagner is able to parry it away. Good effort, but a good save.

Mehmedi might have been slightly offside there, but no matter. There were three red shirts in the box ahead of their defenders - really bad at the back from the Portuguese side there. Estoril have a corner here, their first chance.

CLOSE! It's played short and Babanco finds Fernandes, who heads it just wide.

GOAL! Freiburg 1-0 Estoril (Vladimir Darida)

It's more terrible defending from the visitors and this time they're punished. The staggered defensive line allows Schmid in behind from Coquelin's pass. He looks behind him for Darida, whose shot is deflected into the net for an early Freiburg lead.

Since the goal the visitors have passed it around at the back to try to get into the game, but they cannot go anywhere as they are being pressed right up the pitch at the moment.

Brilliant turn from Coquelin, who spins his man and drives down the left before being tackled. From the free kick Freiburg pass it back and look to work some possession of their own. No further chances as neither side can get the ball in their opponent's third.

What a brilliant pass from Ginter, firing it across field to Lorenzoni. Eventually Gelson Fernandes gives away a foul and the chance has gone. They're really struggling to penetrate, are Estoril. Leal drifts wide right, but he's quickly closed down by two red shirts.

Risky from Baumann there as he looks to sweep up a ball in behind and just about gets enough on it with Evandro lurking. Mehmedi gets to the byline on the right but his cross is cleared.

Shot for Mehmedi, but he was unlikely to test Vagner from there. He cuts inside about 25 yards from goal and is fortunate that his strike is blocked behind for a corner.

SAVE: Big chance for Julian Schuster. From the corner it's headed out only as far as him from inside the box, but he drills his effort right at the keeper, who parries away.

Vagner has a problem with his leg and the physios are on. Not sure what happened there, but it was probably to do with the same he made from Schuster just now. He's up and looks fine to continue.

Freiburg really do look threatening with their pace. They win the ball again and Darida tries to find Mehmedi wide on the left, but it's well intercepted by Mano who stuck out a boot.

More threat from wide from Freiburg, this time through Lorenzoni. His low cross is turned behind and they have a corner. It comes to nothing but they get forward again and Mehmedi is adjudged offside - he was, just.

Coquelin is down, but he gets back up before needing treatment. Estoril are pressing much more effectively now, but are still yet to have a genuine attempt at Baumann's goal.

Purposeful run down the right by Seba, but there's so little support that his pass goes to the Freiburg keeper. The German side are in control without being dominant, but they'll certainly want t second goal before too long.

Coquelin has worked really hard so far and he wins the ball again before laying off to Schuster. The captain is brought down as he passed and the referee brings the play back for a free kick. It's worked left to Coquelin but they end up losing out. Fernandes wins it back before Coquelin gives it away - really scrappy phase this.

BOOKING: Gelson Fernandes becomes the first player booked here for a foul around the half-way line. It allowed his team time to regroup, but was still unnecessary for me.

Estoril are finishing the half with plenty of the ball, with Evandro in particular looking to use it. However, there's no way through for them at the moment. Instead Freiburg break through Mehmedi, but his pass asks a lot of Schmid and he's forced wide.

Just a minute to be added on at the end of the first half. I think it will stay this way until the break.

HALF-TIME: Freiburg 1-0 Estoril

It was a half of few chances, but Freiburg certainly deserve their lead. They have been by fair the most threatening team and although they have not created many clear-cut chances, they have got in behind plenty of times.

The other game in the group sees Liberec beating Sevilla at half time. A potential surprise in order there. If it stays like that it will make a win here for Freiburg all the more important.

I'm not sure if there will be any changes at the break. Perhaps for the visitors, but Christian Streich will be relatively pleased with his team so far.

KICKOFF: The second half is underway.

Strong start to the half from Freiburg, who have been passing nicely so far. Still no chances as yet, but Nicolas Hofler is on at the break - not sure yet who he has replaced.

It was Fernandes who made way for Hofler. Rare chance for the visitors, but Leal's pass went out of play and Baumann has a goal kick.

GOAL! Freiburg 1-1 Estoril (Seba)

That's why you need a cushion in football. Estoril have rarely threatened, but Leal plays through Seba who had beaten the offside trap and he finished low past Baumann for the equaliser! Scarcely deserved but the Portuguese side are level.

Can Freiburg can themselves back on top here? At the moment, neither side is creating a lot, but one will surely get on top. Joao Pedro goes into the book for a late tackle.

The crowd are still lively, although they were stunned by the equaliser. On the pitch it's getting a bit tasty with a number of fouls from both sides, but Freiburg have the majority of possession just now.

Half-chance there for Leal, but Baumann does well to meet the cross and put it behind for a corner. They're looking shaky at the back in this half, Freiburg.

FREIBURG SUB: Hedenstard comes off for Vaclav Pilar. It's an attacking move to add a bit more width from Streich, as Darida fires wide from inside the box.

ESTORIL SUB: Good introduction from Pilar, who cuts in from the left flank but cannot quite squeeze the ball to Mehmedi. Carlitos comes on for Joao Pedro Galvao for the visitors.

Carlitos is causing problems straight away, but Freiburg break through Coquelin and Pilar. The latter finds Schmid, who is away down the right after a one-two, and eventually wins a corner. That's more like it for the hosts.

They're not panicking just yet, the Germans, but they will have to up their tempo before too much longer. Currently Estoril are pressing right up to Baumann, but haven't created anything else as yet.

CLOSE: Decent chance for Mehmedi, who turns a cross from the left wide of the near post. Sub for the hosts, with Darida, who has been excellent, making way for Mike Hanke.

CHANCE! Could be 2-1 to the hosts there, but Vagner makes a good save from close range from Mehmedi.

Goncalo wastes a free kick by going for goal when he really should have crossed it in. Five minutes to go here and it's looking unlikely that there will be a winner.

ESTORIL SUB: Lopes comes on for goalscorer Seba. The crowd is very quiet now. This result really won't help either team.

There will be four minutes of time added on here. Can either side find a winning goal?

Mehmedi's turn to be wasteful as his cross from the right is tame and straight into the arms of the keeper. Estoril break late...

FULL-TIME Freiburg 1-1 Estoril

Thanks for joining me here. I'm over with Eintrach Frankfurt commentary in just a few minutes. Goodbye.
