Roberto Martinez: 'Leighton Baines has apologised'

Leighton Baines has apologised for saying that Everton were playing with no "chemistry", according to manager Roberto Martinez.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Leighton Baines has said sorry for recently claiming that the Everton players were showing no "chemistry" out on the pitch.

Left-back Baines made the admission after the Toffees had suffered their tenth defeat of the season away at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

However, Martinez has confirmed that the situation has now been dealt with.

"I've had a chat with him and he knows he has to take responsibility for those words," the Everton boss told reporters.

"He has put himself in a position where he has given the wrong words. He's apologised and we will move forward. The time for talking is on the pitch."

On Saturday, the Merseysiders travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford.
