Ross Barkley 'suffers hamstring injury'

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has reportedly picked up a hamstring injury in training.

The 23-year-old missed the Toffees' pre-season schedule due to a groin problem, which required surgery, but he was closing in on a comeback after returning to training last week.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Barkley has suffered a fresh setback after pulling up during a session at Finch Farm today, which pours doubt over his chances of playing in Thursday's Europa League tie against Hajduk Split.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur after he rejected a new contract at Goodison Park.

The Merseyside outfit are believed to be holding out for £50m, while Spurs reportedly value Barkley in the region of £25m due the player having just one year left on his contract.
