Alan Pardew bookmakers' favourite to replace England boss Sam Allardyce

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is the bookmakers' favourite to replace Sam Allardyce as England manager.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has emerged as the bookmakers' favourite to replace Sam Allardyce as England manager following a newspaper sting.

The Football Association is looking into Allardyce's comments, which were caught on film by undercover reporters from The Telegraph.

Just 67 days after being handed the England job, Allardyce spoke to reporters posing as businessmen about how to "get around" the FA's transfer rules on third-party ownership.

The 61-year-old was also filmed mocking his predecessor Roy Hodgson by calling him "Woy", and accused Gary Neville of being the "wrong influence" in the coaching camp during Euro 2016.

According to Sky Bet, Pardew is 4/1 favourite to replace Allardyce if the FA wields the axe, while out-of-work Steve Bruce is 6/1 and Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is 7/1 to take the job.

England are due to play again in two weeks' time when they take on Malta and Slovenia in World Cup qualifiers.
