Dean Ashton slams "disgusting" Roy Hodgson behaviour

Former England international Dean Ashton slams Roy Hodgson for showing "arrogance" and treating fans like "dirt" in the wake of his side's Euro 2016 exit.

Former England international Dean Ashton has launched a scathing attack on Roy Hodgson in the wake of the 2-1 defeat to Iceland on Monday night.

The Three Lions crashed out of Euro 2016 at the last-16 stage due to the humiliating defeat, after which Hodgson tendered his resignation to end a four-year spell in charge of the national team.

The 68-year-old refused to answer questions following the match, while his opening line at a press conference earlier today was "I don't really know what I'm doing here", leading Ashton to slam his "arrogance".

"The way Roy has handled himself since last night, I just find it disgusting. I just cannot believe the arrogance of the man to come out and be the way he has been, in terms of saying 'I don't know why I'm here'," he told talkSPORT.

"That's just saying to all English football fans as if they're just a piece of dirt and he doesn't really care.

"I'm just amazed as to how he's handled that considering how many people have said what a proper bloke he is. To act the way he has done, that then makes you think about how he has been throughout the tournament."

Hodgson, meanwhile, has admitted that his best was not good enough during his stint in charge of the national team.
