Two sides looking to move into the top six of the Championship met at Pride Park this afternoon as Derby County welcomed Reading.

It was another bad afternoon at home for the Rams as Nigel Adkins's Royals handed them their third defeat in front of their fans this season.

Read how it all unfolded in our minute-by-minute updates below.

Afternoon folks! The feature 3pm match in the Championship this week sees two Nigels - Clough and Adkins - collide as Reading travel to Derby. Team news coming up...

DERBY XI: Grant, Smith, Keogh, Buxton, Forsyth, Eustace, Bryson, Hughes, Ward, Russell, Martin

READING XI: McCarthy, Gunter, Kelly, Pearce, Morrison, Guthrie, Baird, Obita, McCleary, Robson-Kanu, Pogrebnyak

SUBS! And the two benches this afternoon:

DERBY: Deeney, Freeman, Jacobs, Bennett, Sammon, Davies, Coutts
READING: Federici, Cummings, Gorkss, Tshibola, Akpan, Blackman, Le Fondre

Clough names an unchanged XI for the third game running while Adkins makes five changes to the side that squeezed past Leeds on Wednesday.

Chris Baird makes his full debut for the Royals, while Jordan Obita gets his first ever league start at 19 years of age. Other changes include returns to the team for Pavel Pogrebnyak, Garath McCleary and Stephen Kelly.

Adam Le Fondre's last-gasp winner against Leeds isn't enough to earn him a start as Pogrebnyak returns after serving a one-match ban for his red card from last weekend.

REFEREE WATCH! The man in charge at Pride Park today is Tim Robinson.

Last time these two sides met was over 18 months ago in February 2012. That day it was Reading who left Derby with the points thanks to Noel Hunt's 61st-minute goal.

PREDICTION TIME! Just five minutes until kickoff at Pride Park so it's time for my thoughts on the match ahead. I'm not quite sure why but I'm going to side with Reading, 2-1 to the Royals!

Here come the two sides out onto the pitch. Derby in their home colours of white and black while Reading are all in red today.

KICKOFF! We're underway at Pride Park as Derby kick off.

First shot of the game comes from Reading debutant Baird, who has a pop from distance but can't test Grant in the Rams' goal.

Excellent play from McCleary to beat a couple of men on the right-hand side before cutting in on his left foot and firing well over as he was leaning back.

Derby finally get the ball down and have a bit of possession that results in a half-chance for Russell, who was played in by Forsyth and tested McCarthy with a low shot from a tight angle.

UPDATE! First goals of the day in the Championship as Bournemouth go ahead against Middlesbrough and Watford take the lead against Barnsley. No goals yet in the four Premier League games.

Guthrie's cross is a poor one but almost ends up as a good shot as the ball loops over Grant and wide of the goal.

McCleary has been everywhere early on and this time tests Grant with a long-ranger. It's hit well enough but straight at the Derby stopper.

UPDATE! Bournemouth now lead 2-0 against Middlesbrough thanks to a second Brett Pitman penalty, while Barnsley have equalised against Watford. At Elland Road, Scott Arfield gives Burnley the lead against Leeds. In the Premier League there has been a goal, with Loic Remy putting Newcastle ahead against Hull (great news for my Fantasy Football team!).

First Bryson, then Hughes work McCarthy with long-range efforts. Yet to see a real chance at Pride Park.

We're now midway through the first half in the sunny East Midlands. Reading definitely started better but in the last quarter of an hour or so it's been Derby on top.

STRONG HANDS! McCarthy has been tested a couple of times but this is a better save as Martin looks for the corner with a curler.

BEATEN OUT! Ward cuts in from the left and rockets a shot at goal that's straight at McCarthy but far too powerful for the Royals keeper to hold on to.

UPDATE! Jesse Lingard is having a dream debut for Birmingham! He's scored two quick goals to give the Blues the lead against Wednesday. Elsewhere, Blackpool are beating Leicester, Bolton are beating Brighton and Watford are once again ahead against Barnsley.

Another strike from distance from Derby as Hughes has a go but again it's straight at McCarthy.

Better from Reading in the last five minutes or so. McClearly has had the beating of Forsyth this afternoon and is delivering some menacing crosses. Yet to pick out a fellow Royal though.

GOOD SAVE! McCarthy's saves so far have been fairly comfortable but this time he's properly tested by Hughes's low strike and pushes it around the post.

Good chance for Buxton at the back post as he climbs above his man but can't direct his header on target.

HALF-TIME: DERBY 0-0 READING

There was a decent opportunity for Smith just before the break but he couldn't keep his back post half-volley down on the stretch.

Find all of this afternoon's half-time scores on this page.

Derby have had a total of 12 shots and got eight of them on target. Reading have had six and tested Grant just once.

Here come the two sides at Pride Park. Second half will be underway soon. No subs from either manager.

GOAL! DERBY 0-1 READING (POGREBNYAK)

Derby were better in the first half but they're behind as Reading scruffily go ahead in just the second minute since the resumption. A deep free kick came was met by Pearce who headed across goal where Pogrebnyak was the most alert to find the net.

Soon after the goal Ward broke clear of Morrison and was hauled back by the Reading centre-back. Somehow referee Robinson didn't book the Royals' skipper.

UPDATE! Lingard and Macheda's debut afternoons for Birmingham and Donny just get better and better! The former now has four against Wednesday while Macheda's brace sees Donny leading Forest 2-1.

Who could Derby bring on to change this up? The young talents of Michael Jacobs and Mason Bennett stand out.

GOAL! DERBY 0-2 READING (POGREBNYAK)

The Royals double their lead through Pogrebnyak, who nets his second of the game by drilling a side-foot shot into the net after Russell made a hash of clearing McCleary's low cross.

SUBS! Both sides make changes, with Hope Akpan on for Chris Baird for the visitors and Paul Coutts taking the place of John Eustace for Derby.

Groans from the Derby fans as Forsyth's cross goes straight to McCarthy. Derby really need to score soon to have any hope of getting something from this game.

UPDATE! QPR take the lead against Yeovil while Leicester have just scored twice in two minutes to turn it around against Leicester. All scores and scorers .

YELLOW! First booking of the game goes to Pearce for holding onto the ball after conceding a free kick.

SUBS! Changes from both managers as Shaun Cummings replaces Jordan Obita for the visitors and Michael Jacobs takes the place of Jamie Ward for the hosts.

GOAL! DERBY 1-2 READING (HUGHES)

Lovely goal from the highly-rated youngster as he curls a loose ball over McCarthy into the far corner.

YELLOW! Moments after scoring, Hughes is cautioned for bringing down Pogrebnyak.

READING SUB: Third and final change for the visitors as Nick Blackman comes on for the impressive McCleary.

YELLOW! Robson-Kanu is booked for time-wasting.

SIX minutes of time added on at Pride Park. Can Derby equalise?

GOAL! DERBY 1-3 READING (BLACKMAN)

Derby have to push forward and that leaves them exposed at the back where substitute Blackman takes advantage, collecting a pass from Robson-Kanu before digging out a shot after a poor first touch that beats Grant. Game over.

FULL-TIME: DERBY 1-3 READING

A much-improved second half from Reading then as they continue Derby's wretched home form to move up to seventh in the table.
