Chelsea captain John Terry signs new one-year deal at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea captain John Terry signs a new one-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea captain John Terry has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old recently revealed that he was considering an offer that involved a "different" role at the West London outfit.

Earlier in the season, Terry claimed that he was planning to end his 21-year association with the Blues after the club failed to offer him a new deal.

However, Chelsea kept dialogue open and after consulting incoming manager Antonio Conte, a new deal was put on the table for Terry.

The centre-back reportedly received interest from the lucrative Chinese Super League, but he has opted to stay at the club where he has won 16 trophies in 18 years.

"I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club," Terry told the club's official website. "Everyone knows I'm Chelsea through and through.

"I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You're the best in the world."

Terry has made 703 first-team appearances since joining the club at the age of 14.
