Chelsea winger Pedro admits that he held transfer talks with former club Barcelona during the summer.

Chelsea winger Pedro has admitted that he held discussions with Barcelona over the summer regarding a potential return to the club.

After just a year at Stamford Bridge, it was suggested that the Spaniard could re-sign for the Catalan giants, but Pedro has claimed that he never came close to representing Barcelona for the second time.

The 29-year-old told RAC-1: "I spoke to [Barcelona president Josep Maria] Bartomeu and it looked as though I'd return to Barcelona last summer, but I think the talks were given more importance than they really had.

"It is difficult to return, even with everything you remember from your old club. If you asked me if I'd like to go back, my answer is obvious, because it is a great club where I have great teammates and a fanbase that appreciates me.

"I've always said I'd like to retire at Barcelona but it is very difficult, almost impossible at this point."

On Sunday, Pedro scored on his 50th appearance for Chelsea as they thrashed Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
