Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji is reportedly close to joining German side Stuttgart on an 18-month loan deal.

Stuttgart have reportedly offered Papy Djilobodji a route out of Chelsea this month.

The centre-back arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer from Nantes in a deal worth £2.25m.

However, he has barely featured for the Blues since then, having appeared for just 60 seconds of a League Cup tie against Walsall.

As a result, the 27-year-old may now switch to Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart on an 18-month loan deal, according to The Mirror.

It was speculated at the time that Djilobodji had only been signed at the 11th hour following Chelsea's failed pursuit of Everton centre-back John Stones.

Nice's French defender Romain Genevois (L) vies with Nantes' Senegalese defender Papy Mison Djilibodji (R) during the French L1 football match between Nice and Nantes on february 8, 2015 at the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice, southeastern France.
