Harry Kane hoping to keep pressure on Chelsea in title race

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has set his sights on beating West Ham United at the London Stadium on Friday in order to keep the pressure on Premier League title rivals Chelsea.

Spurs could close the gap at the top of the table to just one point with a victory over their London rivals, at least until Chelsea host relegation-threatened Middlesbrough on Monday night.

Kane believes that playing before Chelsea is an advantage for his side, pointing to last season's experience when they regularly played after eventual champions Leicester City.

"We just have to try to finish strong. We've got another game Friday night and it's good to play first. Hopefully we can drop the gap to one point and then see what happens. We know what it's like from when Leicester were playing last year before us that it's good to play first and put the pressure on," he told reporters.

"It'll be a tough game away from home but hopefully we can get that win, put the pressure on and just wait and see. I said before the [Arsenal] game we weren't thinking too much about [finishing above the Gunners] - the most important thing for us was to put pressure back on Chelsea.

"Watching them win meant we knew we had to win and we did it. It was an added bonus that in the last game at the Lane we managed to finish above Arsenal. It's great for the fans and great for the club. But we're thinking about trying to get that title and we'll see what happens."

Spurs have now won their last nine Premier League games in a row and have kept clean sheets in each of their past four.
