How Liverpool could line up against Chelsea

Ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea, Sports Mole looks at how Jurgen Klopp's side could line up in Istanbul.

Liverpool make the trip to Turkey for the UEFA Super Cup final with Chelsea looking to secure their first piece of silverware for the season.

The Merseyside giants missed out on the Community Shield courtesy of a penalty-shootout defeat to Manchester City, but Jurgen Klopp will be confident that his team can get the better of their fellow Premier League side on Wednesday night.

Liverpool head into this encounter having recorded a 4-1 victory over Norwich City in their top-flight opener on Friday night, a match held almost two days ahead of Chelsea's defeat at Manchester United.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how the Champions League winners could line up on their return to Istanbul.

Out: Alisson Becker (calf), Nathaniel Clyne (knee)

As a result of Alisson sustaining a significant calf injury in the game against the Canaries, Adrian will come into the team to make his first start since replacing Simon Mignolet as the Brazilian's deputy.

However, aside from long-term absentee Nathaniel Clyne, Klopp should be able to select from the remainder of his first-team squad, while also taking into consideration their league meeting at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Having been left on the substitutes' bench on Friday night, Sadio Mane should be recalled to the first XI as Klopp looks to improve the match fitness of the Senegal international.

Roberto Firmino may be the player to drop out having competed at the Copa America over the summer, meaning that Divock Origi could keep his spot in the starting lineup.

James Milner is in contention for a place in midfield, as is Naby Keita, and Klopp is likely to take the opportunity to rest one of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson or Georginio Wijnaldum.

The same could apply to Joe Gomez in defence, with Joel Matip potentially being drafted back into the team having started the season as third choice.
