Sports Mole brings you live coverage of the second leg between Chelsea and Galatasaray in the Champions League second round.

Chelsea have eased through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a comfortable 2-0 win over Galatasaray.

Samuel Eto'o gave the home side an early lead after latching onto a pass from Oscar, before Gary Cahill doubled Chelsea's advantage three minutes before half time.

The Blues continued to dominate after the break as Didier Drogba struggled to make an impact on his return to the club, and Jose Mourinho's outfit will now await the last-eight draw on Friday morning.

Read below to see how the action unfolded at Stamford Bridge.

6.46pmHello, and welcome to Sports Mole's coverage of the second leg between Chelsea and Galatasaray in the last 16 of the Champions League.

6.49pmWhat a huge night for everyone connected with the Blues. Not only do they face a Galatasaray side that will feel as though they have nothing to lose this evening, but arguably the greatest striker in their history - Didier Drogba - makes his return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since departing in the summer of 2012. It could be an eventful night in West London!

6.51pmWithout further ado, let me bring you the team news from Stamford Bridge. As expected, Drogba starts against his former club, but there are a couple of minor surprises in the Chelsea side.

6.53pmCHELSEA XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Ramires, Lampard, Willian; Oscar, Hazard, Eto'o

6.54pmGALATASARAY XI: Muslera; Eboue, Semih, Chedjou, Telles; Yekta, Melo, Selcuk; Sneijder; Burak, Drogba

6.58pmSo what do you make of that, Chelsea fans? David Luiz was expected to make his return from injury, while Fernando Torres could have started in attack, but both players find themselves on the bench. Frank Lampard comes into the starting lineup after remaining on the sidelines against Aston Villa at the weekend, with Samuel Eto'o returning after being left out three days ago.

7.01pmConfirmation that Didier Drogba will start for Galatasaray is the biggest news coming out of the visitors' dressing room, while regular Premier League viewers will be familiar of Emmanuel Eboue, who makes a return to London after previously playing for Arsenal.

7.03pmCHELSEA SUBSTITUTES: Schwarzer, Kalas, David Luiz, Mikel, Schurrle, Ba, Torres

7.05pmGALATASARAY SUBSTITUTES: Burdisso, Gulselam, Hajrovic, Bulut, Balta, Sarioglu, Ceylan

7.09pmBefore the game, Didier Drogba is expected to get one of the warmest receptions that any returning player have received in world football. Why, I hear you ask? We have selected five goals that helped make the Ivorian a legend in West London, which you can view by clicking here.

7.14pmTonight's encounter comes three weeks after the two sides fought out a 1-1 draw at the Turk Telekom Arena. Fernando Torres gave Chelsea the early advantage as the Blues threatened to run rampant in a one-sided first half, but Galatasaray returned for the second half more organised, and they deservedly equalised when Aurelien Chedjou fired home from a corner.

7.19pmMany have Chelsea has the clear favourites to progress tonight, but the Blues need to avoid any complacency against a side managed by former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini. The Italian has lost just five times in 33 games since his arrival earlier in the campaign, while he also ensured that his team qualifed for the knockout stages ahead of Juventus, who have dominated Serie A this season.

7.24pmSince the first leg, both teams have dropped points in their domestic leagues. Chelsea easily defeated Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur but fell to a disappointing setback against Aston Villa on Saturday, while Galatasaray have been held to two draws in their last three games, but their one triumph was by a 6-1 scoreline.

7.28pmDidier Drogba will be presented with this silver boot before kickoff this evening in recognition of his achievements during his eight years at Stamford Bridge. Classy touch from Chelsea.

7.29pmThere are just over 15 minutes until this second leg gets underway. I guess that means it's time for a prediction!

7.32pmPREDICTION! I'm expecting a tentative start to the game as Chelsea attempt to maintain possession against a Galatasaray side who may be intent on sitting back for the opening 15 minutes. However, slowly but surely, Chelsea should get on top, and they could run out 3-1 winners.

7.35pmHere's one of the many signs that are on show tonight. He may have been hated by many other sides, but Drogba is an icon with Chelsea supporters.

7.37pmDrogba has been presented with his silver boot. As you'd expect, the reaction was breathtaking.

7.42pmThe two teams have made their way out onto the pitch. Get ready, folks. It could be one of those memorable Champions League occasions.

1 minJose Mourinho and Didier Drogba have shook hands. Mourinho and Roberto Mancini have not. We are underway.

3 minChelsea are seeing plenty of the ball, but Galatasaray are defending in numbers, with every player, including Drogba, inside their own half. They seem happy to allow Chelsea to have possession, for now.

4 minGOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Galatasaray (Eto'o)

4 minPerfect start for Chelsea! Oscar does brilliantly to thread the ball through to Samuel Eto'o, who looked offside but wasn't, and after a touch to his right, his shot went under the body of Fernando Muslera and into the bottom corner.

7 minSamuel Eto'o probably wasn't expected to start this evening, but the Cameroon forward looked extremely sharp in latching onto Oscar's clever pass. The Blues have started well, much like they did in the first leg. Can they take advantage of their superior start and net another?

10 minRamires, who is wearing a mask to protect a facial injury, has taken a whack to the same area and doesn't look too pleased. After a couple of minutes on the deck, he has returned to his feet, but he appears a tad annoyed.

12 minSamuel Eto'o breaks clear of the Galatasaray defence, but his first touch takes him to the byline. He manages to retrieve the ball and attempt a cutback, but the opportunity is lost when the ball is cleared.

14 minGalatasaray enjoy their first encouraging spell of possession which results in Didier Drogba claiming for a handball in the area from Cesar Azpilicueta, but the referee remained unmoved.

15 minCHANCE! Drogba goes for a shot that can only be described as an "Hollywood attempt". The cross came in from the right but after it found Drogba on the edge of the penalty area, the Ivorian's attempted overhead kick went into the top tier of the stand.

19 minBOOKING! The booking of the game goes to Felipe Melo, who stops a Chelsea counter-attack by sliding in late on Willian. If the Turkish side progress, the Brazilian will be suspended for the first leg of the quarter-finals.

22 minSuper move from Chelsea. Eden Hazard and Oscar linked up mesmerically to set the latter free in the penalty area, but despite his pull back to Frank Lampard, the veteran could only poke the ball over the crossbar from 12 yards.

24 minHe may have been criticised for his recent form, but Oscar has looked terrific tonight. The midfielder latched onto a fine ball from the right, and after controlling the ball with his head, he played it to Hazard, who curled the ball straight at the goalkeeper from 20 yards.

27 minThere's a lot of rolling about going on right now! Aurelien Chedjou, Samuel Eto'o and Wesley Sneijder are the culprits. Fear not though, everyone is alright...

28 minSHOT! Felipe Melo breaks from midfield, but he can only drag a low shot wide from the edge of the area. He would have been disappointed with that.

30 minGalatasaray deserves credit for how they have settled after the early setback. They've been second best, but they are far from out of this tie.

33 minCHANCE! Chelsea should have their second goal. A free kick from the halfway line found its way to John Terry, who did well to lose his marker, but his left-foot volley cleared the bar by a yard.

36 minDidier Drogba earns a free kick at least 35 yards from goal, but there's only one thing in his mind from here. He lines the ball up, but the ball flies into the top tier of the stand. That's not the first time that I have said that tonight...

40 minBOOKING! That's a very harsh booking for Oscar. The playmaker slides in and wins the ball, but the referee believes that there was too much venom in the tackle and dishes out the yellow card. Chelsea are furious.

42 minGOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Galatasaray (Cahill)

42 minHuge goal for the Blues just before half time! After they were awarded a debatable corner, John Terry rose highest to meet Frank Lampard's corner, and despite Fernando Muslera producing a decent stop, the ball fell to Gary Cahill, who rifled it into the roof of the net from two yards.

45 minThere will be three minutes of added-on time.

45+2 minI've lost count of the amount of fouls in this half. It's been embarrassing at times. One minutes to go.

45+3 minHALF TIME: Chelsea 2-0 Galatasaray

8.34pmThe half-time whistle goes at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea go into the break with a deserved 2-0 advantage. They haven't needed to get out of second gear against a lacklustre Galatasaray. I think Jose Mourinho will be pretty content with that.

8.38pmChelsea have tested Fernando Muslera on five occasions, with two of their efforts bringing goals. Galatasaray's attempts to beat Petr Cech have been restricted to two skyward shots from Didier Drogba and a low drive from Filipe Melo. Interestingly though, the visitors have had more of the possession. As for the foul count, there have been 23 offences committed during the opening 45 minutes. That's a lot by anyone's standards.

8.45pmYou'd think that Roberto Mancini will have to change things after that dismal first-half showing. It was a similar story in Turkey, and he succeeded, but it could be much tougher finding two goals at Stamford Bridge. We will soon find out what his next move is, but you'd expect his opposite number to keep things as they are. Chelsea have been comfortable.

8.48pmBoth teams are slowly making their way back out onto the pitch. Galatasaray are shooting towards their fanatical supporters this half, which could help maintain their motivation.

46 minWe are back underway.

47 minRoberto Mancini has sent his team back out with an altered formation. Felipe Melo has dropped back into defence, with Galatasaray now having wing-backs on either flank.

49 minWhy hasn't Eden Hazard got a shot away?! The Belgian bedazzled the Galatasaray defence but opted to be over elaborate when 10 yards from goal and the chance was lost. Oscar is down after taking a knock.

51 minCHANCE! Frank Lampard receives the ball in the centre of the park, but after dinking the ball through to Willian, the Brazilian's half-volley was well held by Fernando Muslera. Lampard's another who has had a decent showing this evening. I'm sure that Roy Hodgson will be taking note.

53 minSUBSTITUTION! Burak Yilmaz has been quiet all evening, and it comes as no surprise that he has been replaced by Umut Bulut, who will join Didier Drogba in attack.

57 minAnother fine Chelsea move sees Ramires receive the ball on the left side of the penalty area, but his cross is prevented from finding Samuel Eto'o. Moments later, Oscar collected the ball in the same area, but after cutting inside, he dragged his shot wide of the near post.

60 minWe are through an hour at Stamford Bridge, and the score remains at 2-0. Galatasaray have continued to look devoid of ideas going forward, and it certainly isn't helping their cause. Roberto Mancini has just slammed his pencil to the floor. I don't think he has been impressed with what his team have offered.

64 minOscar and Willian link up to win Chelsea a corner from the right, but it's well headed clear by Didier Drogba. That's the only positive thing that he has done so far tonight. Still plenty of time though...

66 minCHANCE! I've been very impressed by Oscar. He has looked very lively in the attacking third and he slips in behind the Galatasaray defence for the umpteenth time to cross for Frank Lampard, but the England international's header was straight at Fernando Muslera.

70 minA series of passes only heighten Galatasaray's frustration, and they concede a free kick on the left. However, Frank Lampard's set piece is, to be "frank", abysmal, and it goes towards the corner flag. 20 minutes to go in West London.

73 minI'd expect a couple of Chelsea changes over the next 10 minutes. They have this match well under control. Oscar has a yellow card to his name, so it might be a smart move to withdraw him for the final 15 minutes.

76 minSUBSTITUTION! Galatasaray make their final change of the night, bringing on Izet Hajrovic for Emmanuel Eboue. Andre Schurrle looks to be coming on for Chelsea.

80 minEden Hazard bobs and weaves on the byline before drawing the foul from a Galatasaray defender. Oscar is standing over the ball, with his powerful delivery being punched cleared by Fernando Muslera.

81 minThat was Oscar's last contribution to an outstanding display. Schurrle enters the action for the final 10 minutes.

83 minCHANCE! Cesar Azpilicueta has been one of Chelsea's players of the season and he has performed to the highest standard tonight. The Spaniard broke from defence to join the Chelsea attack, but after he was found by Samuel Eto'o, his curling effort drifted over the bar.

84 minSAVE! Chelsea continue to press, but on this occasion, they are denied by a solid stop from Fernando Muslera, who prevents Eden Hazard from finding the bottom corner. Fernando Torres has replaced Samuel Eto'o.

88 minCHANCE! Chelsea have done everything but score a third goal. Eden Hazard produces a sublime flick to set Fernando Torres free, but despite having acres of space to find the far corner, the Spaniard curled his shot too close to Muslera, who diverted the ball behind for a corner.

90 minThere will be three minutes of added-on time.

90+1 minCHANCE! Didier Drogba has squandered his opportunity to get on the score sheet on his return. A free kick was swung into the box but the 36-year-old missed his kick and Petr Cech was able to claim.

90+3 minFULL TIME: Chelsea 2-0 Galatasaray

9.39pmChelsea have progressed through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after an easy evening at Stamford Bridge. They were never required to get out of second gear against a very poor Galatasaray side, who bow out of the competition with a whimper.

9.41pmThe Blues join Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in the next round. That's a stellar lineup, and there are still two teams to complete the last eight!

9.42pmThat will be all from Sports Mole this evening. Thank you for joining us for what turned out to be a routine night for Chelsea as they ensured that there will be at least English representative in the quarter-finals of Europe's premier competition. Goodbye for now.
