Half-Time Report: Callum Harriott gives Charlton Athletic lead

A goal from Callum Harriott leaves Charlton Athletic 1-0 up against Watford in the Championship.

Callum Harriott has boosted Charlton Athletic's hopes of securing Championship football for another season, firing them into a 1-0 lead over Watford this evening.

The visitors looked to apply pressure early on as Daniel Tozser had a shot blocked before Christian Battocchio tried to force his way through, but Charlton were able to clear the danger.

Ben Hamer had to remain alert as Troy Deeney looked to add to his goal tally, but the keeper was able to deny him.

Watford were forced into a change after just 15 minutes when Davide Faraoni had to head off with an injury, bringing Math Ranegie off the bench.

The hosts, who can end the threat of relegation with a win tonight, began to dominate possession, and managed to take the lead when Harriott drilled the ball in from the edge of the box.

Deeney, Toszer and Sean Murray all had long-range efforts late in the half, but were unable to find an equaliser before the break.
