Burnley boss Sean Dyche says that he is pleased with the performance levels of the club's record signing Steven Defour this season.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has paid tribute to the club's record signing Steven Defour following a positive start to the season for the Belgian midfielder.

Defour, 28, moved to Turf Moor from Anderlecht in an £8m deal during the summer transfer window.

The 47-time Belgium international is yet to complete 90 minutes this season as he adapts to the rigours of the Premier League, but Dyche is pleased with the level of performances that he has received from the central midfielder.

"Steven has done well. The biggest thing I talked to him about was the physicality of the Premier League. I don't just mean the tackles, but the pace of the league and the physical demands," Dyche told Sky Sports News.

"We've had to protect his body a bit when he's come off but he's adjusting to what we are as a group nicely and he's getting stronger."

Defour, who scored his first Burnley goal against Hull City earlier this month, started his professional career with Genk, before representing Standard Liege, Porto and Anderlecht.
