Brighton & Hove Albion chief hopeful of completing Davy Propper signing

Brighton & Hove Albion are looking to bring in Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven for a club-record-equalling fee of £4m, chief executive Paul Barber confirms.

Brighton & Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber has confirmed that the club are "working very hard" to get the club-record-equalling signing of Davy Propper over the line.

The PSV Eindhoven midfielder is at the centre of talks between the two clubs over a summer transfer, which will likely set the Premier League new boys back around £4m with add-ons.

Propper, who has featured 189 times at Eredivisie level, is soon expected to become the Seagulls' seventh arrival of the window, fresh on the back of breaking their transfer record to bring in Mathew Ryan from Valencia for the same fee.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Albion chief Barber said: "We're working very hard and if it comes off it would be a club record, for certain. If we can sign a player of that calibre we'll be delighted."

Since earning promotion from the Championship in May, Brighton have also brought in the likes of Pascal Gross, Markus Suttner, Izzy Brown, Mathias Normann and Steven Alzate.
