Agent: 'Alireza Jahanbakhsh wouldn't develop in Championship'

The agent of NEC winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh says that the style of play in the Championship would not allow the Iran international to develop amid interest from Brighton.

The agent of NEC Nijmegen winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh has insisted that a move to the Championship would not help the Iranian's development.

The 21-year-old was the subject of a bid from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month, while Celtic have also been linked with the player.

Amir Hashemi told De Telegraaf: "Alireza wants to develop further and the style of play in the Championship would not help.

"Brighton wanted a quick decision to be made. Ali, however, needs time to ponder his future. Perhaps he will think differently in about four weeks, but right now he can absolutely not say yes."

Jahanbakhsh scored 12 goals in 28 appearances for NEC in the Dutch Eerste Divisie last season, helping the club secure promotion to the Eredivisie.
