Brighton & Hove Albion and Yeovil Town met in their Championship clash at the Amex Stadium on Friday.

Oscar Garcia's side needed a win to keep up their push for a playoff place, while anything other then three points would relegate the Glovers.

It was the home side that came out victorious as they moved into the top six with a 2-0 win, which confirmed Yeovil's relegation to League One.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Championship clash between Brighton & Hove Albion and Yeovil Town.

Kickoff at the Amex Stadium was due to occur at 7.45pm, but due to a traffic accident it has been pushed back 15 minutes so we're going to get underway at 8pm this evening.

This game is a must-win for Yeovil. Anything less than three points will see them relegated from the Championship as they are currently six points adrift of safety with just two games left this year. A huge game for Gary Johnson's side.

Brighton also need a victory as they have fallen out of the playoff places at the top of the Championship. They trail Reading by just a point and will be hoping to move back into the top six with a victory. Last year's disappointing end to the season will be in the memories of the Brighton playing staff, so they will be determined not to miss out on a Premier League place this time around.

BRIGHTON STARTING XI: Kuszczak, Bruno, Greer, Dunk, Ward, Andrews, Stephens, Orlandi, Lingard, Ulloa, Buckley

BRIGHTON SUBS: Ankergren, Calderon, Forster-Caskey, Mackail-Smith, Rodriguez, LuaLua, March

YEOVIL STARTING XI: Stech, Ayling, McAllister, Edwards, Webster, Palazuelos, Hayter, Lawrence, Hoskins, Duffy, Ralls

YEOVIL SUBS: Dunn, Dawson, Foley, Lanzoni, Davis, Grant, Twumasi

There are three changes for Brighton this evening from their 1-1 draw with Blackpool on Monday. Garcia brings Andrea Orlandi, Lewis Dunk and Will Buckley back into the starting lineup while Kazenga LuaLua and Solomon March drop out of the team.

Yeovil have made just the one change to their side following their defeat to Huddersfield Town on Monday. Sam Hoskins comes into the starting lineup for Kevin Dawson.

There is hope for Yeovil this evening as despite Brighton's lofty position of seventh in the table, their record against clubs in the bottom half isn't that great. Garcia's side have taken 40 points from 23 games played, which ranks them 11th in the Championship, and the record worsens at the Amex Stadium. That could mean they struggle to break down their opponents when the onus is on them.

Yeovil's record as the away side against teams in the top half isn't all too clever, as they have recorded just one win from a possible 11 games. They've recorded four draws, but even that won't be enough for them this evening. They need to somehow find a way of getting a win at the Amex tonight.

Garcia has revealed that Brighton will battle for the last minute to secure a playoff berth. "For me it's amazing to be fighting for this place at this stage, bearing in mind what has happened during the season," he told The Argus. "It's amazing to be here and have a chance to get into the playoffs. The results show that better squads than us are finding it difficult to win as well. We will fight until the end. That's what we have to do and it's what we will do."

Johnson has admitted that there needs to be changes made at Yeovil as their relegation to League One is all but confirmed. He told the Western Morning News: "We can't keep pulling rabbits out of a hat. In ten years it's been a fantastic rise, but now we are back in League One and the club – in my opinion – has got to be seen to be competing in League One. You don't want to go back there and be struggling. You don't mind being a yo-yo club and come back again. We've had terrific support from everybody, the club has been a proper football club over the last season. But it needs to learn from this season and better itself."

The players are making their way out onto the pitch and we should be underway shortly.

KICKOFF! We're underway in this crucial Championship clash.

Spot of early bother for the home side as Ralls is able to raid down the flank and Greer puts the ball behind for a corner. From the resulting corner Lawrence's low cross to the near post is poorly cleared back to the winger, but Bruno rallies to clear the second cross into the area.

Stech is nearly too casual for his own good as he tries to clear the ball. He takes his time and nearly allows Lingard to block his clearance, but fortunately for the keeper he gets it away.

Ulloa wins the ball in the final third of the pitch for the home side and he plays the ball to Buckley down the right. The winger tries to raid into the box, but McAllister gets back at him to make a good challenge and win the ball. Good covering by the left-back.

Buckley and McAllister compete again down the right and this time the winger passes the ball back to Bruno. The right-back whips a cross to the near post where Ulloa wins a glancing header, but no-one in a blue and white shirt can react at the back post to turn it into the net.

More promising build-up from Garcia's side as this time Ward gets forward from left back to lift a cross into the area. However, with three players to hit in the box he can only lift the ball over their heads. A wasted opportunity.

Lingard shows a burst of pace to get down the left, he then looks up and carries on to the edge of the area. Just when he looks to shoot Ayling manages to steal the ball from him and breaks up the attack. Good defending so far from the visitors.

Not a great deal of quality in this game so far, as both teams have struggled especially in the final third of the pitch. The tempo isn't that great either, we need a spark to bring this game to life.

A nice spell of possession for the visitors ends in a free kick just outside the Brighton box, as Lawrence is brought down by Bruno with a strong challenge. A good opportunity for Yeovil to test Kuszczak.

Lawrence takes the free kick but he blasts his effort straight into the wall and that allows the home side to clear the danger.

OFF THE BAR! Yeovil come within inches of taking the lead as Hoskins tees up Palazuelos on the edge of the area. The midfielder's drive then cannons off the crossbar and loops up, but Greer is on hand on the line to head it clear. So close for the visitors.

CHANCE! Brighton's turn to threaten from a free kick and Buckley whips a cross into the box from 40 yards, which hits the head of Ward although he doesn't know much about it, and takes another deflection and goes wide.

CHANCE! The home side are upping the ante and Ulloa drives down the left and hits a low cross towards the penalty spot. Lingard makes a run and tries to latch onto the ball, but Ayling is able to stick out a leg and divert the ball away from the forward.

Very even game so far and there have been a lot of last-ditch tackles made by both sides. Dunk had to be aware when Edwards raided down the right and cut the ball back into the box for Hayter. The defender was able to read the pass and make the interception before the striker could control the ball.

CHANCE! How are Brighton not ahead? Lingard wins the ball in the final third from McAllister and he plays a low cross for Ulloa, Webster does well to beat the striker to the ball but his clearance falls for Orlandi. However, the midfielder can only put his shot wide of the post.

CHANCE! Another chance for the home side and Orlandi and this one could be an even worse miss. The midfielder whipped a cross into the box, which was cleared to Ward who then raided to the byline and lifted another ball into the area which found Orlandi six yards from goal, but he could only head wide.

Couple of half chances for the visitors now. First Hoskins drills a low effort at goal from inside the box which is well blocked by Dunk, and then seconds later Ayling powers a shot at near post and Kuszczak is forced top get down low to make the stop.

CHANCE! What a let off for Kuszczak as he comes a long way out of his goal to punch a free kick into the area, but he misses the ball completely. Fortunately for the home side Dunk is on hand to cover behind him and clear the danger. That could have been very embarrassing.

Brighton earn a great chance to threaten Stech's goal as Buckley wins a free kick right on the edge of the area, after being brought down by Lawrence.

Orlandi takes the free kick but his effort is quickly closed down and deflected behind for a corner.

Brighton keep the intensity as Orlandi's corner is cleared only as far as Buckley on the right wing. He knocks the ball to the back post for Dunk, who tries to head at goal, but his effort goes well wide of the post. That was a hard one for the defender to get on target.

Lingard uses his pace to provide an outlet for the home side down the left flank again. He's short on options and is forced in field which gives Yeovil time to regroup. Finally he passes the ball to Orlandi who shoots from 30 yards, but his effort is straight at Stech.

Brighton are being reduced to long shots from distance as Lingard becomes the latest player to try his luck after being frustrated by the visitors. His left-footed shot has power, but Duffy throws himself in the way of the ball to make the block.

CHANCE! Buckley gets in behind the Yeovil defence and he beats McAllister by cutting back onto his left foot inside the box, but his low shot is well saved by Stech at his near post.

There will be one minute of added time.

Brighton get one late chance to whip a cross into the box from a free kick, but Stech comes out to punch clear Orlandi's ball into the area.

HALF-TIME: Brighton 0-0 Yeovil

It's goalless at the break at the Amex Stadium which doesn't suit either side in their respective objectives. Yeovil have come the closest to breaking the deadlock when Ruben Palazuelos had a shot that crashed off the crossbar, while Andrea Orlandi should have done better with two efforts that he failed to hit the target with.

Oscar Garcia will be slightly disappointed for his side not to be ahead as they have dominated possession and attempts at goal. However, they just haven't found that cutting edge in the final third of the pitch. Yeovil have looked a threat, but have been cut open too easily at times and could well have found themselves a couple of goals down.

The visitors need to find a winner in the second half otherwise their relegation to League One will be confirmed. It's do or die for Johnson's side, let's see if they throw caution to the wind to try and take their season to the final day of the campaign.

The players are making their way out onto the pitch and we should be underway shortly.

KICKOFF! We're back underway at the Amex Stadium.

Scrappy start to the half as neither side have been able to get a hold of the ball for a period of time. Lingard sums this up by winning it in the final third, and then being dispossessed as he tried to break into the box.

Duffy makes an excellent intervention that keeps the visitors level as Orlandi fires a low cross into the box, and the defender gets there just in time to stop it reaching Ulloa in the middle.

CHANCE! Brighton hit the visitors on the break and Orlandi raids down the flank before he hits a cross into the middle for Ulloa. The striker has the beating of Duffy in the air, but his header goes just over the bar.

Brighton are really starting to up the ante and Yeovil are doing their best to hang on at the minute as Lingard's effort was well blocked by Ayling and another cross flew across the face of goal, with all that was needed was a touch to find the net.

CHANCES! Stech manages to keep his side level with a great save as Lingard hits a cross to the back post for Ulloa and he heads the ball down, but the keeper manages to guide the ball over the bar. From the resulting corner, the striker met the ball again and his effort looked to be finding the corner, but it dropped inches wide.

Duffy puts his body on the line for the cause for Yeovil as he manages to get his head to the ball as Ulloa tried to strike it from Ward's cross from the left. Great defending from the visitors at the moment, but how long can they hold out for?

Lingard has the ball on the edge of the area, with teammates around him in space he decides to continue with the ball inside the box. The striker then decides to shoot but his effort goes well wide of the target, and there are a few angered glances from his teammates in his direction.

SUBSTITUTION: Change for Yeovil as Liam Davis replaces Tom Lawrence.

OFF THE BAR! Yeovil hit the bar again! The substitute Davis nearly has an instant impact as he runs down he left and cuts the ball back for Edwards. He shoots first time, and his shot looks to be creeping into the corner, but it clips the bar and goes over.

SUBSTITUTION: Solly March replaces Orlandi for the home side.

Another substitute almost makes an instant impact as March's corner from the right is headed just over by Greer, with the aid of a deflection. Brighton are pressing the visitors more and more as the game wears on.

CHANCE! Davis speeds down the left for the Glovers yet again and he lifts a cross to the back post for Edwards. The midfielder heads the ball down, but Kuszczak managed to tip the ball past the post for a corner.

March and Stephens combine for the home side, and the former Charlton man fires a ball across the face of goal which Edwards manages to clear. March brings the ball back to the penalty area, and fires a low shot at goal but Stech makes a comfortable stop.

SUBSTITUTION: Buckley is replaced by Kazenga LuaLua for the home side.

Brighton appear to preparing themselves for one last push at Yeovil, who will look to absorb the pressure as they have done all game and maybe him them on the counter. We're set for an exciting last 15 minutes.

LuaLua tries to make an impact after arriving from the bench, but Ayling does just enough to force the ball behind off the winger. Good defending by the full back.

GOAL! Brighton 1-0 Yeovil (LuaLua)

Brighton take the lead and it's the substitute LuaLua who has handed them the vital goal in their push for the playoffs. The winger received the ball on the left and he cut back into his right foot and whipped a cross looking for Ulloa, but the ball missed the striker and found its way into the corner of the net.

Brighton have been knocking on the door for the majority of the second half and although the breakthrough has come in an unconventional manner Garcia's side deserve it. Yeovil have 10 minutes left to find two goals to keep themselves in the Championship for another week.

The home side are looking to kill the game off as March raids into the box down the right. He manages to cut back onto his left foot, but his effort is well blocked by McAllister.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Two changes for Yeovil as Palazuelos makes way for Lanzoni, while Dawson comes on for Hayter.

Brighton look intent on seeing this lead out by keeping possession, the visitor have barely seen the ball in the past five minutes since the hosts took the lead.

Davis makes another surging run down the left and his cross is deflected back into the path of Edwards, who takes a shot but it flies well over the bar.

There will be three minutes of added time.

GOAL! Brighton 2-0 Yeovil (Lingard)

Brighton seal their win and confirm Yeovil's relegation to League One as March raids down the left and cuts the ball back to Lingard in the middle, and he makes no mistake from six yards out, smashing the ball into the net.

FULL-TIME: Brighton 2-0 Yeovil

YEOVIL ARE RELEGATED TO LEAGUE ONE

Brighton's push for the playoffs continues as they move to sixth in the Championship with the 2-0 victory tonight, but that comes at the expense of Yeovil as the loss confirms their relegation to League One.

Garcia's side now face a trip to Nottingham Forest where they will continue their battle to make the top six in the final game of the season. Meanwhile it's all about pride for Yeovil, who will record their highest ever league finish no matter where they place in the bottom three.

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Be sure to visit us again tomorrow for all the action from the Premier League and the rest. But from me, it's goodbye.
