Half-Time Report: Luke Hyam gifts lead to Blackburn Rovers

Luke Hyam's own goal hands Blackburn Rovers a 1-0 half-time lead over Rotherham United at Ewood Park.

Luke Hyam's own goal has handed Blackburn Rovers a 1-0 half-time lead over Rotherham United at Ewood Park.

Rotherham threatened to take an early lead when Luke Hyam sprinted clear to collect a ball over the top, but Grant Hanley came to Blackburn's rescue to clear off the line after the midfielder had chipped his effort over Jason Steele.

The visitors continued to look threatening in possession, despite struggling to create opportunities after a bright start to the game.

Blackburn improved as the first half progressed, before taking the lead when Hyam could only head into his own net while attempting to clear a corner.

A long spell of pressure from Rotherham almost brought an equaliser when Steele pushed away a powerful strike from Joe Newell as the visitors finished the first half strongly.
