Ashley Cole considering return to England with Birmingham City

Former Arsenal, Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole admits that he would consider a return to English football with Birmingham City.

Former England left-back Ashley Cole has confirmed that he would consider a return to English football with Birmingham City.

The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea defender will see his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy expire later this year.

Blues boss Harry Redknapp claimed in July that Cole "could certainly play at this level" when asked whether he was interested in bringing the 36-year-old to the Championship.

Asked if Birmingham's interest in him was something he was considering, Cole told Sky Sports News: "Yeah, I'm just waiting to see, keeping my options open. It's six months left here, so it's something I'm thinking about."

Cole, who made 107 appearances for England between 2001 and 2014, joined LA Galaxy from Italian giants Roma in 2014.
