Steve Cotterill 'considering Birmingham City role'

Birmingham City reportedly offer Steve Cotterill the chance to join the club as Harry Redknapp's assistant.

Steve Cotterill is reportedly considering an offer from Birmingham City to serve as assistant to new manager Harry Redknapp.

The 52-year-old - former manager of Portsmouth, Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City - joined Redknapp for the final three games of Brum's Championship campaign, guiding them to safety with two wins.

Redknapp today agreed a one-year deal to take over as permanent boss in the West Midlands, having been given assurances that he will have resources to mount a promotion challenge next season.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Redknapp and the club are keen for Cotterill to come back on board as assistant manager but he is torn as to whether to accept the role or wait for a full manager's position to present itself at another club.

The newspaper claims that the club will hold further talks with Cotterill this weekend.

During his 20-year managerial career, Cotterill has won five promotions - including, most recently, promotion from League One with Bristol in 2014-15 - and has never been relegated.
