Half-Time Report: Returning Arjen Robben helps put Bayern Munich ahead at the break

Bayern Munich hold a 2-0 half-time advantage over visitors Koln in the Bundesliga, as Arjen Robben marks his return from injury with a first-half goal at the Allianz Arena.

Arjen Robben has scored on his return to the Bayern Munich starting XI as Pep Guardiola's charges currently lead visiting FC Koln 2-0 at half time in the Bundesliga this afternoon.

The visitors were the first to register an attempt in the opening minutes when Simon Zoller took aim from range, only to see his effort safely held by Munich stopper Manuel Neuer.

Robben might have got himself on the scoresheet as early as the seventh minute, but he was thwarted by Timo Horn in the Koln goal.

The visiting stopper was in action again just a few minutes later as he found himself rushing off his line to prevent Thomas Muller, who reacted well to meet Robert Lewandowski's knock-down.

Guardiola's men soon took possessional control of the encounter, and they might have found themselves ahead had Lewandowski done better with his headed attempt in the 29th minute.

The German champions continued to mount sustained pressure on the away side, who eventually broke when Robben took hold of a loose ball in the area to round Horn and make it 1-0 to the hosts.

The Bavarian club's lead was doubled just a few moments later in the 40th minute, this time as Arturo Vidal drilled home from the edge of the box to cap off some neat footwork from youngster Kingsley Coman.
