Adam Hammill signs new two-year contract at Barnsley

Barnsley announce that winger Adam Hammill has signed a new two-year contract at the club.

Barnsley have announced that winger Adam Hammill has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract at Oakwell.

The 28-year-old, who began his career at Liverpool, scored nine goals in 34 appearances last season as the club returned to the Championship with a 3-1 win over Millwall in the playoff final.

Hammill's first spell with Barnsley was from 2009 to 2011, but after stints at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town, the winger opted to return to the Tykes last year.

"I'm absolutely delighted," Hammill told BBC Radio Sheffield. "I've listened to my heart. The affinity that the fans have for me was one of the main reasons for staying.

"Taking that team spirit that we have here forward I am sure we will have a really impressive season."

Hammill also helped Barnsley win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
