Both Barnsley and Nottingham Forest went into Saturday's matches on the back of big defeats looking to bounce back to form.

It was lowly Barnsley who caused an upset of sorts by edging out visiting Forest thanks to Dale Jennings's first goal for the club.

Read how it all unfolded at Oakwell in our minute-by-minute updates below.

Afternoon all! Just 10 minutes until kickoff in Yorkshire so let's bring you the team news straight away...

BARNSLEY XI: Steele, Kennedy, Cranie, Ramage, Hunt, Dawson, Mellis, Woods, O'Brien, Jennings, O'Grady
Subs: Turner, Frimpong, Cywka, McCourt, Lawrence, Proschwitz, Nyatanga

FOREST XI: Darlow, Halford, Lascelles, Gomis, Fox, Jara, Abdoun, Majewski, Mackie, Paterson, Cox
Subs: De Vries, Harding, Collins, Moussi, Greening, Henderson, Derbyshire

It's surprising to see Nick Proschwitz on the bench for Barnsley after some impressive performances of late. One positive for the hosts is the return of Jim O'Brien. Forest line up as expected.

PREDICTION TIME! It's hard to favour Barnsley today, even with Forest on a run of two straight losses. I'm going for a 0-2 away win.

KICKOFF! Slightly behind schedule, but we're finally underway at Oakwell as Forest, in their away kit of white and blue, kick off.

Forest manager Billy Davies begins a five-game touchline ban today. He's in the stands and will communicate with assistant Dave Kelly from there.

SHOT! I said that it was a boost for Barnsley to have O'Brien back and he's just fired an early warning shot a yard or so wide of the near post.

Down the other end, Mackie digs out a brilliant cross from the right but Jara can't head it back across goal to Cox.

SHOT! Almost an outrageous first Barnsley goal for Jennings as he drives forward before letting fly from 30 yards. His shot is dipping and Darlow's save is unconvincing but manages to get the ball over the bar.

Really encouraging from Barnsley so far. Ramage is providing a threat from left-back but they're being restricted to long shots.

First goal of the day in the Championship comes at St Andrew's as Ravel Morrison puts QPR in front against Birmingham. Make sure you're keeping an eye on that live scores box to the right for the goals as they go in.

Superb skill from Abdoun in the right corner as he beats two Barnsley defenders, but his cross is poor and easily defended.

Woods is the next to attempt a speculative shot for Barnsley on the turn from 18 yards. He can't test Darlow as he slices it well wide.

Dawson makes a tackle on Majewski but the ball goes straight out to Abdoun on the left. The Algerian looks for Cox with a low centre but it's cleared by the home side.

Jennings's cross is flicked out for a corner by Gomis as Barnsley continue to do well territorially. However, they're not really creating good chances.

OFF THE POST! Whoooof, almost a goal out of nowhere for Forest as the ball is laid back to Abdoun 25 yards out. He slaps it first-time on the half-volley and Barnsley keeper Steele can only watch as it hits the base of the post.

CHANCE! Best chance of the match by a mile as Abdoun beats Hunt down the left before crossing into the middle. Mackie is only about six yards out but can only head wide.

BOOKING! After Gomis was cautioned in the first 10 minutes, Fox becomes the second Forest player in the book after clipping Hunt's heels.

You'd say that this game has been pretty even so far. Barnsley have had three more shots than Forest with seven but the visitors have come much closer.

Terrible touch from Majewski as he just bundles into a crowd of Barnsley shirts instead of taking the shot on after good work from Paterson.

Mellis does brilliantly to escape the attention of two Forest players in the box but then plays his pass straight to a Forest player in the middle when he had plenty of options.

HALF-TIME: BARNSLEY 0-0 FOREST

It's as you were at half time then. The best chances of the half fell to Forest but Barnsley have probably just been the better side in possession. 0-0 about right.

The stats reflect the evenness of the half, with Forest just edging possession (51%). There's been 16 shots, nine to Barnsley, seven to Forest, but just a couple of decent chances.

Click here to see how things in the table stand right now. Both sides are where they started the day in 24th and fifth respectively.

KICKOFF! Righty ho, the second half is now underway. No changes from either manager at half time.

Like the first half, Barnsley have started well in the second, with Mellis having an early shot blocked. Jennings's long-range piledriver in the first half remains the only shot on target from either side.

More good buildup from the Tykes as Mellis finds O'Brien on the overlap down the left. The number seven's cross is low to the near post where Darlow anticipates and smothers.

GOAL! BARNSLEY 1-0 FOREST (JENNINGS)

What a BIG, BIG goal this could be for Barnsley. I mentioned a moment ago that Jennings was the only man to shoot on target so far and now he's found the net. It's similar to his effort in the first half as he cuts in from the left before firing from distance. This time Darlow is beaten by the low shot which whizzes inside the near post.

Here's a shot of goalscorer Jennings and Mackie battling for the ball from Getty Images:

There's few attacking options for Forest on the bench and it looks like Darius Henderson will soon be coming on. The other forward-thinking player is Matt Derbyshire.

Dodgy Darlow moment as Jennings's deep corner is headed towards the back post by Ramage. There's no Barnsley player coming in, but Darlow still flaps at it. Luckily, it doesn't drop to a red shirt and Forest survive.

FOREST SUB: Henderson replaces Mackie in attack for the visitors.

Here's Jennings celebrating his goal:

Although Barnsley are winning here, Tykes fans will be disappointed to hear that the sides above them - Yeovil, Millwall and Doncaster - are also all up at the moment.

Good position for a Forest free kick but Abdoun's delivery is too strong for the other white shirts in the area.

SHOT! Paterson is Forest's in-form player and he tries to claw the visitors back with an ambitious 25-yard drive. It's really well-struck but just has a bit too much curve and arcs wide.

FOREST SUB: The visitors have now used all their attacking subs as Derbyshire replaces Cox up front.

Credit to Barnsley, you might have expected them to sit back after scoring but they're still trying to attack.

BOOKING! Horrible tackle from Dawson that he rightly gets booked for. Could have been a red card.

CHANCE! Best Forest opening for a while as Abdoun gets to the byline before dinking over a cross to Paterson, whose header is tame and straight at Steele.

SUBS: Changes for both sides as Guy Moussi replaces Halford for the visitors before Emmanuel Frimpong comes on for Woods for the Tykes.

As things stand in the table, Barnsley will be moving up one place to 23rd as Charlton drop to bottom. The Addicks do have three or four games in-hand on those near the foot though because of some abandoned games and their run to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Aimless ball forward from Derbyshire that just sums up their performance today. They've been unlucky with injuries in midfield recently and you can see that as they just look a bit disjointed.

Barnsley are inevitably starting to sit back a little here but so far Forest aren't providing any threat as another hopeful long ball goes out of play.

Abdoun has been Forest's most creative player and he almost creates a good chance with a dink to the back post where Steele does well to shepherd the ball out of play.

FIVE minutes are added on by the fourth official just moments after yet another poor, poor delivery from Forest.

Not really sure where that five minutes has come from to be honest.

Free kick to Forest right on the edge of the box...

SAVE! Abdoun curls it over the wall but Steele isn't to be beaten and leaps high to his right to beat it out.

CHANCE! Forest have plenty of players in the area and Barnsley can't clear the ball. Derbyshire has a chance on the turn but can only hit it straight at Steele.

BARNSLEY SUB: Last-minute, time-wasting change by Wilson as he brings on Liam Lawrence for O'Brien.

FULL-TIME: BARNSLEY 1-0 FOREST

It's three straight defeats for Forest as they go down at lowly Barnsley because of Dale Jennings's excellent second-half strike.

It was a first Barnsley goal for Jennings and he looks delighted here:

Unfortunately for the Tykes, everyone else in the bottom five that was playing today also won! Yeovil, Millwall and Doncaster all picked up important wins and that makes Barnsley's triumph feel less significant. They would have been left behind with a defeat though.
