Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela is a transfer target for Atletico Madrid, according to a report.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela in the summer.

The 25-year-old, who joined Sociedad in 2011 from Arsenal, has been targeted as a potential replacement for Diego Costa should the Spanish international leave at the end of the current campaign, according to Football Direct News.

The deal is said to be being pushed through by agent Jorge Mendes, who owns the agency which both Costa and Vela belong to.

Vela has scored 13 goals in 28 league matches this season, including the winning goal last time out against Espanyol.

Atletico currently top the La Liga table, while Sociedad occupy a Europa League place.
