Preview: Atletico Madrid vs. AC Milan

Atletico Madrid vs. AC Milan

If AC Milan are to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday evening, then they will have to overturn a first-leg deficit against Atletico Madrid.

Clarence Seedorf's side were beaten by a late Diego Costa strike in the San Siro a fortnight ago, which leaves them with a difficult task ahead of the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Atletico will secure a spot in the last eight of the competition for the first time since 1997 if they avoid defeat at the Vicente Calderon.

Seedorf has made a mixed start to his coaching career since replacing Massimiliano Allegri, with Milan taking 13 points from a possible 24 under his stewardship.

Diego Simeone's Atletico have won all three of their home games in this season's Champions League by a margin of at least two goals.

The hosts will be without injured duo Tiago and Javier Manquillo, but Filipe Luis will return at left-back after he missed the first leg with a groin injury.

Riccardo Montalivo will miss the match due to a suspension, while Stephan El Shaarawy and Matias Silvestre are injured and will play no part in Spain. However, striker Mario Balotelli should be fit enough to start.
