Aston Villa fans to unveil banner thanking Wigan Athletic

Aston Villa fans prepare a banner to unveil at relegated Wigan Athletic today that thanks the Latics for their time in the Premier League.

Aston Villa fans have prepared a banner to unveil at Wigan Athletic this afternoon that thanks the Latics for their ticket pricing and allocation for away fans.

Villa were able to survive relegation from the Premier League but Wigan couldn't this year as they lost at Arsenal on Tuesday, just three days after they had won the FA Cup by edging out Manchester City at Wembley.

Today's match was viewed as a possible relegation decider, but Wigan's failure to win on Tuesday means that the game will carry no bearing on who go down.

The Villa fans' banner, which appeared on Twitter on Sunday morning, reads: "Wigan Athletic, fair ticket prices, big away allocation, cracking away day, thank you and come back soon."

You can follow live text updates on the match and all other nine top-flight games on the final day here on Sports Mole from 3pm.
