Mesut Ozil 'holds talks over Arsenal exit'

Mesut Ozil holds talks with Fenerbahce chiefs over a possible move to the Turkish side in the coming years, according to a report.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has reportedly opened dialogue with Fenerbahce over a switch to the Super Lig club at some point in the next three years.

The 27-year-old, who has enjoyed his most prolific campaign to date at the Emirates Stadium, has previously admitted that it would be an "honour" to represent the Yellow Canaries.

According to Turkish media outlet Hurriyet, Ozil has now taken the first steps towards making his commitment by holding talks with Fenerbahce chiefs in recent weeks.

It is claimed that Ozil - strongly linked with a move back to La Liga in the past - has no real intention of leaving Arsenal at this stage in his career, but would instead make the switch once his current deal expires in 2018.

Fenerbahce are also said to be in the hunt for Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger following his underwhelming debut campaign in the Premier League.
