Arsenal boss Unai Emery has insisted that German defender Shkodran Mustafi has a future at the club.
Mustafi was told during the summer that he was free to leave the Emirates Stadium after being deemed surplus to requirements by the Gunners.
Juventus and Monaco were linked with moves for the 27-year-old, but the centre-back ultimately stayed with the London club beyond the transfer deadline.
Mustafi is yet to be involved under Emery during the 2019-20 campaign, but the Arsenal manager has insisted that he has not closed the door on a role this term.
"Mustafi decided to be here and when he did, for me, he is another player like the others in the team," Emery told reporters. "Of course I respect his decision and, when he decided, I spoke with him and said 'for me you are in the squad and I am going to work with you as with the other players."
The 20-time Germany international has made 115 appearances for his Premier League club since arriving from Valencia in the summer of 2016.
