William Carvalho: 'Arsenal are my dream club'

Highly-rated midfielder William Carvalho admits his affection for Arsenal, hinting that the Gunners would be his club of choice if he left Sporting Lisbon.

Highly-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho has hinted that Arsenal would be his preference should he ever consider a move to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to the Gunners in recent transfer windows but nothing has materialised for the Portugal international.

Although claiming to be a Gunners fan, William, whose contract expires in 2018, says that he has unfinished business in the form of a Primeira Liga title with Sporting.

"I am where I want to be right now, which is Sporting, but if I ever do leave then it's a sign that my work here was well done," he told A Bola. "I dream of winning the Primeira Liga here.

"I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club with which I've always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching.

"Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League."

Liverpool have also been linked with him in recent years.
