Arsenal 'contacted Madrid over Vinicius Junior move'

Arsenal contacted Real Madrid during the summer to enquire about Vinicius Junior, according to a report.

Arsenal reportedly contacted Real Madrid during the summer transfer window to enquire about the availability of Brazilian youngster Vinicius Junior.

The 19-year-old scored seven times and contributed 13 assists in 36 appearances for Madrid during the 2018-19 campaign following his arrival from Flamengo.

According to UOL, Arsenal's newly-appointed technical director Edu spoke with Los Blancos to determine whether the teenager might be available this summer.

Much of Vinicius's football last season came on the left - a position that Madrid strengthened during the summer with the signing of Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

However, the report claims that Zinedine Zidane's side insisted that the South American was not for sale at any price, having impressed since arriving at the Bernabeu.

The youngster, who was also linked with Paris Saint-Germain as a potential makeweight in the Neymar deal, has featured in all three of Madrid's games at the start of the 2019-20 La Liga campaign.
