Arsene Wenger: Alexis Sanchez one of "fastest adaptors"

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that he has rarely seen a player adapt to the Premier League as quickly as Alexis Sanchez, who has 12 goals in 19 games this term.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he has rarely seen a player adapt to the Premier League as quickly as Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean has scored 12 goals in 19 games since joining the Gunners from Barcelona in the summer to keep them in contention for a top-four finish.

"He is one of the faster adaptors to the Premier League I've seen," Wenger told reporters.

"I believe it's because he feels well accepted by the other players. He feels he is an important player in the squad. Sanchez is a player who can play through the middle but in a different way to [Olivier] Giroud because of his mobility.

"He has two major assets - the quality of his game and the quality of his receptions. He gets into areas where you can find him. When he gets the ball deep he can run at people but he can play further forward as well because of the timing of his runs."

The £32m signing will have another opportunity to star for Arsenal when they travel to champions Manchester City on Sunday.
