Former Valencia manager Marcelino has reportedly arrived in London amid reports suggesting that he could become Arsenal's next permanent manager.

The Gunners have commenced their search for a new boss following the decision to dispense with Unai Emery.

Reports have suggested that Marcelino, who was sacked by Valencia in September, is viewed as a candidate for the position at the Emirates.

According to Superdeporte, Marcelino landed in London on Sunday morning and is 'close to taking up a new project'.

Several reports claim that Arsenal, owing to budget restrictions, will not appoint an elite manager and instead opt for an in-house appointment, with Patrick Vieira and Mikel Arteta favourites for the role.

Marcelino enjoyed a successful time with Valencia, qualifying for the Champions League in successive seasons and winning the Copa del Rey in May.
