Olivier Giroud: 'My goal was important for me'

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has said that it was important for him to score in his side's 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League this afternoon.

The French striker scored with a header in the 65th minute at St James' Park to lead the Gunners to a vital away victory.

"It's nice to score, it's been a few games so it's important to come back," said Giroud, according to BBC Sport.

"It was a tough game against my fellow Frenchies and it was important to get the win."

The result sees Arsenal move into top position in the Premier League table.
